The focus has been on my speech and language this week. I’m trying to make progress and get better at it, and it’s not easy. I’ve been following an online course set up by Speech and Languages from St James’s Hospital in Leeds. Sometimes I’ve been able to go in and see them and sometimes it’s on Zoom, but the good news is that she was pleased with the progress which is always good to hear.
As I’ve said before, it’s all about the small steps.
This week I also got back on the pitch at Elland Road for the first team in years! No, I haven’t been re-signed an over-aged free agent, but I was there for a great cause, and one that is close to my heart.
Yorkshire Cancer Research have just announced a partnership with the club, and I did an interview talking about my personal experiences. We were talking them and that without the research and the funding that goes into it, me and many many others wouldn’t have had the treatments we’ve had with that backing.
There is a ‘Giving Tuesday’ coming up on December 1 for Yorkshire Cancer Research, when I’ll be giving something and I’d ask as many of you give something as well. Together, we can fight it.
